Lost Tooth

Kayla lost her first tooth yesterday, September 13th. In her usual dramatic fashion, she told us that she "had never been so happy." She's getting so grown up! We were reading bedtime stories in Kayla's bed and she kicked us out so she could hurry up and go to sleep so the tooth fairy could come. The tooth fairy brought her a gold one-dollar coin and Kayla was ecstatic. How great to be five years old and so easily thrilled. I guess we need tp remember the simple pleasures!

Aspen with Grandma

My mom was in Breckenridge with some friends and we met her for a day in Aspen. Chloe wasn't feeling well and was going to spend the day at home with Andy, but wanted to come to see Grandma so she "wouldn't break Grandma's heart." We had lunch at the Hotel Jerome and relived our wedding day, walked around town, and by the river. It was a fun visit, but we wish we could have spent more time in Aspen and with Grandma!

Henry, the Flying Dog

Now that the weather has started to slightly cool off, we hope to get more hiking in. Last weekend we went to Dinosaur Hill, which is right by our house in Fruita and where scientists found a huge brontosaurus skeleton that is now in the Field Museum in Chicago. Kayla loves hiking and Chloe usuallly does too, but Chloe ended up getting sick later in the day and you can see that she looks pretty tired in the pictures. The tie-dyed, too-small dress that Chloe has on is usually worn 9 days of of 10. The 10th day is usually spent in dress-up clothes. Our dogs love hiking (of course!) and Henry proved that he's still got it at 9 years old. Look how high he can jump for the sticks.

Butterflies

I took Kayla and Chloe to the Farmer's Market in downtown Grand Junction last week to find pickling cucumbers. Kayla has been wanting to get her face painted at the Farmer's Market all summer, but the line has usually been too long. But last week, Kayla brought her own money and shared with her sister and they both got butterflies on their faces. Chloe seemed to like it, but as soon as we got home and she looked at herself in the bathroom mirror, she tried to wipe it off. I also included a picture of our freshly made pickles. Who would have ever thought that I would have taken up canning?!?
