Summer Hikes

Flower Girls

Kayla and Chloe get to be flowergirls in their Uncle Mike's wedding to Loni. Kayla loves her dress while Chloe is mad that it is not fancy enough or long enough. She ran to her room crying, locked the door and wouldn't come out. Ugh...I hope she doesn't act like this at the wedding!

Magdalena did special French braids for the girls today. I'll have to come up with some sort of cute hair-do for the wedding. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at doing their hair. Maybe Aunt Gina will help??

Henry

We all LOVE Henry, what more can I say? He's our first child. I let him sleep in my bed more than I let the girls and I must admit that sometimes I would rather cuddle with him instead of Andy. He is the embodiment of pure love and devotion and doesn't have a mean, spiteful, or angry bone in his body. We could all learn some lessons from Henry.

Much to our sadness, we learned that Henry has cancer. He is almost 10 years old and we made the difficult decision not the try any treatment that could prolong his life. We think such treatments would only cause Henry unneccessary suffering. Henry is currently doing great and wants to fetch as much as ever. We are going to continue treating him like the King he is and hope that he is able to live out the remainder of his life full of joy and treats!

End of School Year Fun

It is hard to believe that the end of kindergarten has already come around for Kayla. The last few weeks of school were filled with fun stuff, including a field trip to both Moon Farm and the Fruita Pool. Chloe and I were lucky enough to attend both. On the last day of school, Kayla had a cute program with singing and root beer floats (for which I forgot my camera). She is getting so big and I am going to miss her so much when she is in full day school next year. I'm so excited for all of the fun adventures and relaxing at-home times we will have this summer.

Carnival

Grandma and PopPop felt bad that they were not able to take the girls to the Dinosaur Museum while they were here, so they left us money to take the girls to a travelling carnival instead. Kayla like the funhouse, while Chloe was more adventurous and tried more rides, including the giant slide, roller coaster, and train. I think Andy had the most fun of all playing all of the games and trying to win giant stuffed animals for the girls. My favorite part was all of the cotton candy.

Las Vegas

Andy and I finally got to enjoy a kids-free vacation. My parents were kind enough to come out to Colorado from Minnesota to watch the kids so that we could go to Las Vegas for four days. I think a great time was had by all, but we were all ready to go back to our real lives at the end of the trip (i.e. Grandma and PopPop back to childfree living, Kayla and Chloe happy to have us back, and we were happy to be back with the girls). Some highlights of the time with Grandma and PopPop according to the girls include: the fact that PopPop is really good at driving backwards for a long ways, Chloe beating up PopPop, and planting a garden with Grandma. Highlights of our trip included relaxing in luxury at our hotel pool, seeing Cirque du Soleil, playing blackjack, and eating entirely too much.

Denver with the Cousins

I can't believe that it has been over a month since I have updated this thing. We have been soooo busy and I have so much to post that I have been overwhelmed at the thought of adding everything, but I'll give it a shot and try to remember what we have been doing.

We went to Denver the last weekend of April. It was a cold and snowy weekend. We had planned on going to the zoo, but ended up at the aquarium instead. The girls really liked it, eventhough Kayla was terrified that Andy was going to get his arm eaten by the piranhas. Luckily, he survived. The girls and Andy went to cousin Erin's soccer game in the snow, while I enjoyed the warmth of Park Meadows Mall and doing some maternity shopping with my friend Jenny who is expecting twins.

We love going to Denver and spending time with our family. The girls are infatuated and awed by their big girl cousins.
