Yes - Elisabeth Mary is the name we have picked out for our new baby. Actually, Andy picked it out and I love it. These are the new burp cloths I am making and trying to sell. I think they turned out pretty well - especially for a non-crafty non-sewer like myself!
We had such a fun camping trip last weekend! We went to Highline Lake which is only about 10 minutes from our house. The camping area was surprisingly nice. We were close to the lake where we spent time wading and playing with the dogs. We also rented a pedal-boat and cruised around the lake a little bit. I think the highlight of the trip for the girls was the campfire. They couldn't wait to get it started, so we lit it before it was even dark outside. We roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. Chloe also tried to roast anything she could get her hands on - leaves, grass, etc. We all slept unexpectedly well. In the morning we got up and had breakfast and then walked by the lake again. There was a triathalon going on which was fun to watch. We packed up and were home by about 10:30 in the morning. Just over 12 hours of camping - PERFECT! I don't know if I could have handled more!
Kayla has been sooo sick for the past few weeks. We finally figured out that she has walking pneumonia. Here she is doing one of her numerous breathing treatments. She has been so good about doing them and taking her medicine. We can't wait until she is feeling better. We are all getting a little cabin fever being cooped up in the house when it is so nice outside. Today, she seems to be feeling a lot better and we even ventured out to the park with friends. It was great for me to interact with other adults and fun for the girls to play with their friends.
Look how cute this apron is that my sister Gina made for Kayla. She can make all kinds of cool things. I keep trying to get her to open an etsy or ebay store. I think people would buy tons of her things, but, unlike me, she has a REAL job to keep her busy!
We officially have a SIX year old!!! I can't believe that she is getting so old (and we are too)! I think she has just had a growth spurt - her legs look so much longer and skinnier. She is getting a lot stronger and is quite a little gymnast. She has also been taking tennis lessons and I think that may be a good sport for her. She has absolutley loved it! I can't wait until we are able to play tennis together.
We had her birthday party today. Kayla came up with the theme, "Kayla's Keep it Cool Birthday." We had slip-n-slides, sprinklers, water balloon toss, pools, squirt guns, etc. in the back yard. Despite being sick, Kayla had fun. Chloe, of course, didn't miss out on any action. Along with the water theme, the girls helped me make under-the-sea cupcakes. The decorations are supposed to be octopus, crabs, and fish (use your imagination).
Kayla lost her first top tooth a few days before her sixth birthday. It has changed the whole look of her face and makes her look more grown up.
For her actual birthday, she wanted to go out for sushi. I'm so happy she would rather have sushi than McDonald's or Chuck E. Cheese...I know I would rather have sushi! We went to a restaurant on Main Street and the Farmer's Market was going on at the same time, so the girls were able to get their faces painted.
Our fourth of July extravaganza continued on Saturday. Andy went rafting on the Westwater section of the Colorado River - in Utah, just west of here. I think a fun time was had by all, especially since the river is running so high this year. Only 2people got thrown out of the rafts. Yikes!! I'm glad I stayed home with the girls. I don't know if my pregnant body could have handled all of the excitement.
We dog-sat our friends' dog, Sparky over the 4th of July week. I think we all fell in love with him. He loved cuddling with us, and he and Chloe formed an especially close bond.
On the third of July, we crashed a friend's family reunion at the Fruita State park where we were able to have a great view of the Fruita fireworks. On the 4th of July, we headed up to Rangely for the day with a big group of friends for boating and picnicing. When we got home that night, we set off lots of our own fireworks out front. I'm not sure if my big scaredy-dog Henry has recovered from all of the loud noises yet.
